Welcome back Race Fans and Racers !

It is hard to imagine that this year we will be celebrating our 20th YEAR of hosting the THUNDER ON THE NARROWS!!!  This year's race will be held August 7-8th.

Lots of exciting things have happened since last year's race:

  • Despite the weather, our 2nd Annual Club Christmas Party was a raving success. Unfortunately, it did keep some people away, but I suppose that means we'll have to try again next year!
  • Patrick McCann, Martha Baker and Dorothy Goodson coordinated and delivered many packages as well as lots of food and good wishes to our Queen Anne's County Adopt-a-Family.
  • A special thank you to them and all of the club members who were so generous - we were able to help grandparents raising six (6) children ranging from 3 mo. to 7 years.

  • The KNRA Board was re-elected in December.
  • Our charity for the 2010 year will be Hospice of Queen Anne's
  • Their mission is to "serve individuals, families, and the community by providing comprehensive, professional, compassionate end-of-life care and bereavement support and education."

  • The club has acquired a J-hydro for our up-and-coming junior racers to drive.
    • The boat was driven by Travis Pond and has won many races and championships in the past several years.
    • The hull needs a little bit of woodwork and we're trying to get an engine for it.  We're hoping it will be ready for Portsmouth, VA (April 17-18th).
    • J-boats will be running at the 20th Annual Thunder on the Narrows.  Any junior club members who are interested in going for a ride, please contact one of the members of the KNRA Board of Directors for information.  (Please note, you must be at least 9 years old to drive in this class.)

Guess that's all for now.  So, start dusting off your boats, get out the West System and paint and hopefully we'll see you in a few weeks!

                                                                                    Take care,

                                                                                    Chris
